Tube bird feeders are long and thin, and come in a variety of different lengths. There are two main types of tube feeders: those that serve nyjer (thistle) seed and those that serve mixed seed or black-oil sunflower seed. Each type attracts different bird species. Tube feeder usually have multiple feeding stations with perches that allow several birds to dine at one time. Those designed for thistle or nyjer seed feature smaller, slotted ports, from which finches and other small wild birds can peck. Those feeders designed for mixed seed or black-oil sunflower seed have larger ports to allow the passage of larger seed. |
